✨WELCOME to the October 4 edition of The Minimalist Home Newsletter!!
4 Box Method
Are you ready for this week's dose of inspiration? Let's talk about overcoming that pesky indecision. We've all been there, right? Staring at a cluttered closet, unsure where to start or whether to keep that old dress from a decade ago. Well, here's your tip of the week: Try the "Four-Box Method."
Grab four boxes or bags and label them: Keep, Donate, Trash, and Maybe. As you go through your items, toss them into the respective box without overthinking it. By the end of your decluttering session, those 'Maybe' items will be much easier to decide on. Remember, progress, not perfection, is the goal. Keep that momentum going, and you'll be amazed at how light and refreshed you'll feel!
I LOVE this method for tidying and decluttering quickly!
📝 Journal Prompt
Grab your fave journal or even just scribble on a piece of paper:
What is keeping this clutter giving me?
Now, I KNOW this could sound overwhelming, confusing or even offensive. But, when we keep habits or things that are hurting us, we are getting some kind of pay-off from it.
Some reasons I’ve heard before: It keeps me from confronting my past, it keeps me from having to make decisions, I feel safe not making changes, I don’t want my family to reject me, etc.
Use this prompt to explore what is keeping you stuck.
(Please feel free to reply to this and share with me).
The Zen of the Living Room 🌿
Let's zoom in on one special area of your home today: the living room. This cozy space often takes center stage in our daily lives, and keeping it clutter-free can do wonders for your overall focus and peace of mind. PLUS, it’s much easier to watch Tasting History with Max Miller when your room is tidy, yes?
Here's a simple yet effective tip for your living room focus spot: start with one corner or one shelf. Choose a spot that's been nagging at you, whether it's a bookshelf, coffee table, or that comfy reading nook. Dedicate just 15 minutes to it. Set a timer, put on your favorite music (or podcast!), and get to work.
As you tidy or declutter this small area, notice how it brings a sense of accomplishment and clarity to your space. Remember, little victories lead to big changes. So, let's transform that living room into your personal zen oasis, one focus spot at a time! 🧘♀️✨

Happy weekend, Reader! My kids were missing me and called me by the babysitter’s name 🫣, my husband was an overtime working zombie 🧟♂️, and I was run ragged working in the emergency room supporting people going through the worst moments of their lives 😢. I’d come home and try to clean up all the stuff, do laundry, feed my kids, eat, and maybe snuggle them as I fell asleep in their beds. It wasn’t working. Keeping our homes clean and clutter-free can feel like an uphill battle. Whether it’s...
Happy weekend, Reader! Does it ever feel like no matter how hard you try, your home wants to stay hard to clean?? It's like a toddler refusing a bath! It’s frustrating, exhausting, and let’s be real—kind of soul-crushing. You pick up, clean, organize, and then bam!—the mess is back like it never left. The problem? It’s not you. It’s the lack of systems keeping things in place. That’s exactly what I tackled in this week’s first video: Declutter & Organize for a Clean, Tidy Home! I’ll show you...
