👹 Knock a monster task of your to-do list

It’s early fall now, and my garden is overgrown and needs to be cleaned up! I have been harvesting some straggling tomatoes and was looking at tonnes of cherry tomatoes that had fallen to the ground and were starting to decompose.

I thought, “Oh, great. This is another thing to add to the long list of things to get done.”

I had a moment of total overwhelm. My mind spiralled as I imagined them sitting there all winter, and then ninety thousand volunteer tomato seedlings would need to be dealt with in the spring. It felt like a scary monster.

Stop. Breath, I told myself. I calmly (maybe with gritted teeth) added “clean up tomato bed” to my weekend to-do list.

And just like that, I felt better.

And wouldn’t you know it, one sunny October afternoon a few days later (BEFORE the weekend, even!), I had a bit of spare time and wandered out to the yard, seeking some fresh air. I got into that tomato bed and went to work!

I cut down all the old plants and closed my eyes as I scooped up the dead and slimy tomatoes (I HATE slimy things 🫣). I left half of the plants to ripen the last few tomatoes that might make it, and cleared half away!

And you know what, Reader? It’s done! Well, half of it, but I learned I could pop my AirPods in, listen to a Simple Farmhouse Life podcast, and joyfully work in the garden to reset it for spring.

What monster are you imagining that you can get done? Add it to your list, and you may even do it early!

Here's the thing: Everest can't be climbed in one day. If we keep chipping away at something, it will happen. Take a moment to breathe and regulate your nervous system, and then make a plan.

And then do something, anything.

I believe in you!

Have a glorious weekend!

xx

Happy weekend, Reader! My kids were missing me and called me by the babysitter’s name 🫣, my husband was an overtime working zombie 🧟♂️, and I was run ragged working in the emergency room supporting people going through the worst moments of their lives 😢. I’d come home and try to clean up all the stuff, do laundry, feed my kids, eat, and maybe snuggle them as I fell asleep in their beds. It wasn’t working. Keeping our homes clean and clutter-free can feel like an uphill battle. Whether it’s...

Or you panic clean for hours and hours, throwing things all over your bed and in closets. 🙋🏻♀️ You don't have enough space for your stuff, and every time you get more space,...
